HTC VIVE launches VR open platform and wireless portable VR machine

On November 14, NetEase Smart News reported that the HTC VIVE Developer Summit took place in Beijing yesterday, where the company officially launched the VIVE WAVE VR open platform and the Vive Focus VR all-in-one device.

This major launch aims to address a long-standing issue in the Chinese mobile VR market: fragmentation. By introducing VIVE WAVE, HTC is offering developers a unified platform to create and distribute VR content across different hardware devices. The platform is expected to streamline the development process and improve user accessibility.

Several well-known companies have already expressed interest in integrating VIVE WAVE into their future products. These include iQiyi, Storm Mirror, Little Bird Look, Little Pai Technology, Skyworth Cool Open, Hisense, Gaicun, Chuangtong Lianda, Yijing Virtual, IDEALENS Virtual World, Nubia, 360 Mobile, and Quanta Computer. In addition, they are planning to support the VIVEPORT content platform, which will further expand the ecosystem.

The Vive Focus is designed as an entry-level VR headset aimed at the mass market. It is compact, lightweight, and comfortable for extended use. Featuring inside-out tracking technology, it supports six degrees of freedom (6DoF), allowing users to move freely within a large space. This makes it ideal for both casual and immersive VR experiences.

With this new release, HTC is reinforcing its position in the global VR market while also strengthening its presence in China. The combination of a robust open platform and user-friendly hardware could significantly boost the adoption of VR technology among consumers and developers alike. As more partners join the VIVE WAVE ecosystem, the potential for innovation and content growth looks promising.
