HTC VIVE launches VR open platform and wireless portable VR machine

On November 14, NetEase Smart News reported that the HTC VIVE Developer Summit took place in Beijing yesterday, where the company officially launched the VIVE WAVE VR open platform and the Vive Focus VR standalone device.

The introduction of the VIVE WAVE platform aims to address a long-standing issue in the Chinese mobile VR market: fragmentation. By offering a unified development and distribution system, the platform is expected to streamline content creation and access for developers and users alike. Major companies such as iQiyi, Storm Mirror, Little Bird Look, Little Pai Technology, Skyworth Cool Open, Hisense Gaicun, Chuangtong Lianda, Yijing Virtual, IDEALENS Virtual World, Nubia, 360 Mobile, and Quanta Computer have all expressed interest in integrating VIVE WAVE and the VIVEPORT content platform into their future products.

The launch of VIVE WAVE allows developers to create and distribute VR content across different hardware platforms through a single, unified application store. This move not only simplifies the development process but also enhances user experience by ensuring compatibility and accessibility.

In addition to the software platform, HTC also unveiled the Vive Focus, a standalone VR headset designed for the mass market. The device is lightweight, comfortable, and easy to carry, making it ideal for both casual and regular users. It features inside-out tracking technology and supports six degrees of freedom (6DoF), allowing for immersive, full-body movement within virtual environments. With its user-friendly design and advanced features, the Vive Focus marks a significant step forward in making VR more accessible to the general public.
