Baidu cooperates with Lifan and Panda to explore the commercial use of unmanned shared vehicles


On November 14, NetEase Smart News reported that on the previous day, Baidu, Lifan Motors, and a new energy shared car platform held a strategic cooperation conference in Beijing. The collaboration aims to establish a partnership between Lifan Motors and the shared car platform with Baidu Apollo’s open platform.

The three parties plan to work together in areas such as high-precision mapping and autonomous driving, enabling the development of self-driving cars. This partnership will significantly enhance Lifan Motors’ autonomous driving capabilities. Lifan Motors will be responsible for vehicle manufacturing, while also coordinating the use of test vehicles and commercially operated vehicles. Pangda Vehicles will provide real-world application scenarios, and all three companies will collaborate to accelerate the mass production and commercialization of autonomous shared vehicles.

At the press conference, Lifan unveiled its first autonomous shared car, which is equipped with Baidu Apollo’s open platform autonomous driving solution. The vehicle is expected to enter the market gradually in the coming years. Gu Weiyi, General Manager of Baidu Smart Car Division, emphasized that shared mobility represents one of the most promising commercial applications for autonomous driving technology.
