If the LED display manufacturing sector implements a standardized system, companies can optimize resource utilization, allowing products to be mass-produced while maintaining standardization. This not only reduces operational expenses but also enhances corporate competitiveness, embedding greater value into the end-user experience.
Since the start of this year, the Korean Land and Housing Corporation (LH) has been considering installing LED lighting in all its apartments, prompting major construction firms to expand their LED initiatives. Consequently, the supply of LED products to private housing units is on the rise in the LED lighting market.
Industry insiders report that the South Korean government plans to introduce LED lighting standards soon, aiming to set benchmarks for large corporations like LH in terms of LED fixtures.
A representative from the national LED industry stated, “As LH incorporates LED lighting into apartments, this segment is drawing significant attention from private builders and residents alike.â€
Considered an eco-friendly energy source, LED lighting boosts power efficiency in lighting by up to 20% of domestic electricity usage. It’s estimated that 10 million households could save 400 million kilowatt-hours annually, equivalent to four nuclear power plants. LED lighting is mercury-free and emits no UV rays, making it safe and harmless. Additionally, its energy consumption is 80% less than incandescent bulbs and 50% less than fluorescent ones.
In response to growing lighting demands in Korea, LEDVANCE, spun off from OSRAM last year, launched new indoor LED lights in the first half of 2017.
An LEDVANCE executive mentioned, “We’re expanding our product range to cater to the burgeoning private home LED lighting market.â€
Shanghai Sansi LED Bulbs Face Labeling Issues
During the first quarter of 2017 inspections by the Shanghai Quality Supervision Bureau, Shanghai Sansi LED bulbs were found lacking the mandatory Hz (Hertz) marking. Despite initial concerns over quality, it was later determined that the absence was due to labeling errors, not quality issues.
In response, Shanghai Sansi swiftly investigated and corrected the labeling error. Other technical specifications of these bulbs were confirmed to be compliant, assuring consumers of their safety.
Nanjing Consumers Association Finds All Sampled LED Bulbs Unqualified
Traditionally seen as an energy-efficient alternative to incandescent and fluorescent lamps, LED bulbs have faced scrutiny following a recent Nanjing Consumer Association report. Out of 42 samples from 37 brands including Philips, Osram, and Op, all failed to meet national standards, with a 100% failure rate.
The tests focused on product labeling, power, luminous efficacy, and color rendering index (CRI), a measure of a bulb's ability to accurately reproduce colors. Key findings revealed that only 54.8% passed the power test, 95.2% passed the luminous efficacy test, and a mere 35.7% passed the CRI test.
Xu Ming, Vice President of the Nanjing Consumers Association, highlighted that many brands misrepresented their product specifications, with some labels differing significantly from actual performance metrics.
Sanxiong Aurora Launches New Brand Identity
On August 16th, Sanxiong Aurora unveiled its refreshed brand logo at the W Hotel in Guangzhou, accompanied by the unveiling of its new slogan: “Yue enjoy high-end lighting.â€
At the press event, Sanxiong Aurora CEO Zhang Yutao emphasized that the rebranding effort goes beyond aesthetics, reflecting a broader strategic shift. Future plans include enhancing branding strategies, product design, and marketing approaches.
This marks the third iteration of Sanxiong Aurora’s logo, building on its heritage while incorporating modern elements. The updated design features a sleeker font with a youthful, approachable vibe. The introduction of the term “Pak,†standing for “Professional,†“Appliance,†and “Kingdom,†underscores Sanxiong Aurora’s ambitions in the lighting industry. The logo’s color palette, featuring aurora green paired with stylish gray, appeals to a younger demographic.
Hongli Optoelectronics Introduces Anti-Vulcanization LED Line
Hongli Zhihui recently announced the launch of its anti-vulcanization “screen seal†LED series, employing advanced PPL technology to address the discoloration issues caused by sulfurization, oxidation, and bromination. These innovations ensure superior reliability, longevity, and performance.
The series’ AT35 model (an upgraded version of PCT2835) has already achieved mass production, marking a first for China. According to Hongli Zhihui executives, the anti-vulcanization breakthrough hinges on applying an inorganic layer over the silver plating, preventing harmful reactions with sulfur, oxygen, and bromine. The technology’s durability and stability have earned it three invention patents.
Silan Micro Cancels Acquisition of Leshan Radio
Silan Micro announced on August 11th that it would abandon its plan to acquire shares of Leshan Radio Co., Ltd. The decision came after the company realized that legacy issues surrounding the target firm, including its lengthy history and high shareholder count, could not be resolved within the stipulated timeframe.
