Corning announces precision glass solutions

Corning Incorporated (NYSE: GLW) recently showcased its new Precision Glass Solutions business and other advanced optical materials and technologies at the 2017 China International Optoelectronics Expo in Shenzhen, held from September 6th to 9th. This new division focuses on delivering cutting-edge glass wafers and panels tailored for the evolving demands of semiconductor, consumer electronics, and IoT industries. Among the fastest-growing applications for glass are RF front-end modules for high-speed mobile communications, back-end packaging in semiconductor manufacturing, wafer-level optics for 3D sensors, optics for augmented reality devices, and wafer-level capping solutions for consumer electronics. The business also supports a wide range of micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) devices. Leveraging Corning’s over 160 years of expertise in glass production and its leadership in material growth, the Precision Glass Solutions team develops coatings, analyzes flatness data, performs precision laser cutting, and handles surface treatments like etching. These capabilities create significant value for customers seeking high-performance, reliable glass solutions. David Velasquez, Global Vice President and Business Director of Corning Precision Glass Solutions, emphasized the rapid expansion of glass use in electronic technology. "We established this specialized business to help customers transition quickly from traditional materials to glass-based solutions," he said. With a global network and a team of industry experts from China, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, Europe, and the U.S., Corning offers end-to-end services—from glass design to product supply. As China continues to invest heavily in semiconductor manufacturing, the business is poised for further growth. In addition to supplying components for integrated circuits, Corning provides key optical elements for domestic semiconductor lithography machines, large astronomical telescopes, and other government-related optical projects. These applications demand high-quality optical transmission, which Corning’s HPFS high-purity fused silica glass and ULE ultra-low expansion glass excel at meeting. Corning Advanced Optics is expanding its production capacity to meet growing demand for these critical materials, serving both Asian and global customers. Today, it stands as one of the largest producers of HPFS and ULE glass in the industry. Beyond bulk materials, the company also manufactures smaller, high-value optical components such as rods, wafers, and lenses, while offering additional services like optical polishing, coating, and supply chain management. This strategic expansion underscores Corning’s commitment to innovation and customer support in the fast-evolving world of advanced optical materials.

Piezoelectric Buzzer For External Drive

The piezoelectric transducers (for External Drive) produce exceptional sound output and efficiency all while meeting each customers unique performance requirements. Piezo transducers are constructed without magnets, instead they create sound mechanically via the piezoelectric effect. Our piezo transducers are not equipped with a built in drive circuit. This provides our customers with the flexibility of designing their own circuitry to meet their specific needs. The advantage of using an external drive circuit is that the piezo transducers can output sounds at multiple frequencies. Full bridge circuits ramp up SPL for more peak-to-peak voltage, making our piezo transducers a high output solution.
