Volkswagen will launch a bargain version of electric SUV in 2020: the voice of the people

The time of expensive electric vehicles is rapidly fading, as major automakers like GM and Tesla have already introduced models priced below $40,000. It's clear that more affordable electric cars will soon hit the market, and even Volkswagen, a German automotive giant, has plans to join the trend. Recently, the company announced its intention to launch a "parity version" of cross-border electric SUVs by 2020. At the Los Angeles Auto Show, Volkswagen showcased the ID Crozz EV concept car, which will serve as a prototype for a U.S.-market model set to debut in 2020. The ID Crozz features two motors, delivering a total of 302 horsepower. It also comes with an 83-kWh battery that supports fast charging, allowing it to reach 80% charge in just 30 minutes and offering a range of up to 300 miles (about 483 kilometers). While the final production version may differ slightly in design from the current concept, the performance and battery specs are expected to remain unchanged. However, Volkswagen hasn't revealed the exact price yet, only stating that the model is positioned as "popular." So, what will be the actual cost? How will it perform? We’ll have to wait and see. In addition to the ID Crozz, Volkswagen also unveiled the ID Buzz, a pure-electric minibus, and a basic version of the ID concept car at the show. This smaller electric vehicle is part of Volkswagen’s broader strategy to expand its electric lineup. Alongside these models, the company is developing a new modular platform dedicated to electric vehicles, aiming to launch 15 new models by 2025. Volkswagen is clearly making a strong push into the electric vehicle market, and with its focus on affordability and innovation, it's positioning itself as a serious competitor in the evolving automotive landscape.
