The company plans to sell 140 million smartphones this year and focus on high-end models. To achieve this goal, Huawei plans to open 15,000 new retail stores around the world.
"We are very confident to complete the shipment target of 140 million smart phones this year," said Yu Chengdong, chairman of Huawei Terminal. Huawei sold 108 million smartphones last year. Despite the global economic slowdown this year, Huawei still insists on a 30% increase in sales. Yu Chengdong is optimistic about this growth target.
“Our retail stores are still too few, and Huawei wants to open more retail stores overseas,†said Yu Chengdong.
At present, Huawei has 35,000 retail stores in the world, of which 11,000 are located in China, 6,500 in other parts of Asia, 6,200 in Europe, and 1,500 in South America. In fact, Huawei has entered 170 countries in the world and is working with more and more third-party stores and operators. In contrast, Apple has opened 484 retail stores in 17 countries.
In the first half of this year, Huawei's smartphone sales reached 60.56 million units, an increase of 25% over the same period of the previous year; revenue was 77.4 billion yuan, an increase of 41% over the previous year, and half of the revenue came from overseas markets. According to market research firm data, Huawei's share of the global smartphone market is 11.4%, and the share of the high-end mobile phone market has even reached 25.7%. Yu Chengdong believes that Huawei has gained such a high share in the high-end market thanks to the flagship mobile phone P4.
