According to Memes Consulting, leading MEMS and sensor foundry Micralyne recently showcased its advanced MEMS technology platform for next-generation gas sensors at the "MEMS Sensing and Network Systems Exhibition" in Japan. The platform integrates Standard Silicon process technology and modular processes, expanding Micralyne’s existing MEMS solutions. This new offering enables designers to develop compact, low-power gas detection systems tailored for today’s evolving market demands.
A key highlight of the exhibition was a metal oxide gas sensor featuring an integrated micro-heating plate, with a chip size of just 1.6mm x 1.6mm. Another component displayed was a fully integrated gas sensor module, demonstrating the potential for seamless deployment in smart home and wearable IoT applications.
The gas sensor market is currently undergoing significant transformation, driven by increasing demand from consumer electronics such as smart homes and wearables that require ambient air quality monitoring. As a result, there's a growing need for smaller, more energy-efficient, and highly selective gas detection solutions that can operate across a wide temperature range.
Collin Twanow, Vice President of Technology at Micralyne, emphasized the company’s commitment to meeting these needs: “We’ve observed a rising demand for compact gas sensors in the Asia-Pacific region.
