Model: TCL LCD TV L42M61F Fault: Negative image, dark in the dark, weak and unrealistic colors. Troubleshooting: Replaced AS15-F with AS15-HG.

Today, a customer brought in a 42-inch TCL LCD TV. The screen showed a white image in the dark, with dull and inaccurate colors. He needed the repair done immediately and wanted the TV to be picked up as soon as possible. My initial thought was that the issue might be related to the logic board. After checking the power supply voltage, everything seemed normal. I then examined the size of the IC board and found that the AS15 chip was used on the main board. After removing the thermal paste, I discovered that the board was using an AS15-F chip. Based on my experience, most negative image issues are caused by a faulty AS15 chip. But this time, it was a bit surprising because the AS15-F is usually not the first choice for troubleshooting. Normally, technicians would just replace it with an AS15-HG and move on. However, in this case, the customer was waiting impatiently, so I decided to proceed with the replacement right away.
