Littelfuse, a global leader in circuit protection solutions, has introduced the SP1012 family of TVS diode arrays (SPATM diodes). This compact, 5-channel device features a 6.5pF capacitance and offers 15kV bidirectional ESD protection, making it ideal for general-purpose electrostatic discharge applications. The SP1012 series is housed in a 0402-sized flip-chip package (0.94 mm x 0.61 mm), which typically accommodates only one diode, but now houses five ESD diodes—providing five times more space than previous designs.
This innovative design allows engineers to save valuable PCB real estate while reducing costs. With its ability to handle repetitive ESD discharges at the highest level defined by the IEC61000-4-2 standard, the SP1012 ensures reliable performance without degradation. Its bidirectional configuration offers symmetrical ESD protection for data lines, especially when dealing with AC signals. It’s particularly well-suited for capacitive touch screen flexible PCBs and other high-density applications.
