CLEAR plans LED bulb test results, the pass rate is only 12.5%

[Text / Yin Mingquan] Following the release of the fourth round of LED ceiling spotlight test results of the CLEAR inspection program in mid-September, the fifth round of LED bulb detection structure has also been released.

The China CLEAR program, which is jointly developed by Gaogong LED and China LED testing and certification industry leader, is designed to cooperate with high-tech LED magazines and websites to combine the quality, safety and falsehood of LED lighting sources and lamps with third-party testing data. Publicity for investigation and reporting, but also hope to get more support from the industry's focus on product quality, reputable brand lighting manufacturers, distributors and consumers.

The LED bulbs tested in this round have a total of 40 models from 32 different well-known brand manufacturers (including some e-commerce brand products).

This round of testing continues to be tested according to the requirements of the LM79-80 standard. The test items cover total luminous flux, luminous efficacy, correlated color temperature, color rendering index, power factor, etc., and the test results are compared with the requirements of the US Energy Star.

The nominal power of the samples tested was less than 7W, of which 3W was mostly, and the sample power distribution was as shown below:

The test data of 40 bulb samples were compared with those of ENERGY STAR. Among them, 15 samples met the minimum luminous flux requirement, accounting for 38% of the total; 33 samples met the minimum efficacy requirements, accounting for 83% of the total. 14 samples meet the requirements of the color rendering index, accounting for 35% of the total; 16 samples meet the requirements of R9, accounting for 40% of the total.

As the latest ENERGY STAR approval specification modifies the requirements for the color temperature of the bulb, the six color temperatures are recognized, which is wider than the previous version, so 33 related color temperatures meet the requirements, accounting for 83% of the total; for power factor For projects, only products with a power greater than 5W are required. Six of the samples in this test have a test power of more than 5W, but the power factor of these samples does not meet the ENERGY STAR requirements.

For the minimum luminous flux requirements of bulbs, the approval specification is based on the power of the replacement lamp indicated on the LED bulb package. As shown in the following table:

Since some of the samples on the outer packaging did not indicate how many watts of incandescent lamps were used to replace the corresponding minimum luminous flux, the 250 lm corresponding to the smallest 25 W power in the table was used as the minimum luminous flux requirement.

On the whole, if only the six main parameters of luminous flux, light efficiency, correlated color temperature, color rendering index, R9, and power factor are considered, regardless of other requirements of the ENERGY STAR approval specification, 5 of the samples tested this time. All products meet these 6 requirements, accounting for 12.5% of the total. For details, please refer to the following data sheet.

Analyze samples according to ENERGY STAR requirements:

According to the relevant test items, the sample test results are statistically shown in the following figure (where the red dotted line is the limit):

In terms of the comparison between the single measurement and the nominal parameters of the enterprise's product packaging, Wanhao Green Lighting's model BPZ 220/2.5 RN-451EE27 rated light efficiency 82LM/W, the measured data is only 61.6LM/W, an increase of 24.9%. Langxing Lighting 4W bulb lamp identification luminous flux 350LM, measured data is 260.1LM, inflated 25.5%.

In addition, among the 40 samples purchased this time, the product packaging box labeling is still very confusing. Only 7 samples were marked on the outer box, accounting for 17.5%; 3 samples marked with light efficiency, accounting for 7.5%; 13 samples were labeled with luminous flux on the outer box, accounting for 32.5%; 2 samples were marked with PF value, 5%.

In terms of light efficiency, the average light efficiency of the 40 samples purchased this time was only 68.32 LM/W. "LED bulbs are mainly used as an alternative to traditional bulbs. Now the efficacy of mainstream LED bulbs is above 80LM/W." A product manager of an LED lighting company in Shenzhen said that according to industry practice, it will indicate how much to replace according to luminous flux. W incandescent lamp.

Of the 40 samples taken during the sampling, 19 samples were not labeled with replacement wattage, accounting for 47.5%. However, among the 21 products marked, there are many "artifact" products. Among them, Guoyizhiguang's 3W bulb test luminous flux is only 136.12LM, but the replacement of 60W incandescent lamp on the outer packaging; rectangular lighting 3W bulb test luminous flux is only 203.02 LM, Lake's 3W bulb test The luminous flux is only 131.96, while the two companies have indicated the replacement of 40W incandescent lamps on the outer box.

In terms of life, 10,000 hours, 20,000 hours, 25,000 hours, 30,000 hours, 50,000 hours, 15 years, 20 years, various life signs are varied, and the life expectancy is longer.

For the situation that the actual test results of the LED bulbs are different from the product nominal data and the labeling parameters of the product packaging are confusing, Gaogong LED has recently visited the industry and interpreted the test results.

"At present, there is little difference in LED bulb technology. The essence of price competition is more competition for raw materials." Zhao Kun, deputy general manager of Sichuan Xinli Light Source Co., Ltd., a member of G20-LED, said that this chaotic phenomenon is the industry's In fact, many companies in order to obtain more price advantages, reduce quality and reduce the cost of raw materials, in the outer packaging to avoid responsibility and taiji. “There is more need for regulation on the outer packaging, as consumers have the right to know.”

“The industry lacks uniform standards, and many companies are lucky for their interests.” Lin Jinman, deputy general manager of Putian City Xingji Lighting Co., Ltd. in Fujian Province, said that LED bulbs have low barriers to entry, while ordinary consumers have not detected bulbs. Good or bad ability, some companies do not even have an engineer, purely assembled production.

According to the person in charge of the CLEAR program, the next high-tech LED will also cooperate with industry experts and experts to disassemble the bulbs tested above, and evaluate the products from materials, key components, power supplies, etc. The actual test data is analyzed and interpreted.
