Haier Computer Enters South American Emerging Market

Recently, the Haier Group and the Guyana government signed a "one computer" project laptop procurement contract at the presidential palace. Guyana Jagdeo, the president of Guyana, and Yu Wenzhe, the Chinese ambassador to Guyana, attended the signing ceremony. It is reported that this is another success in Haier’s computer market after it won the bid for Macedonia’s 170,000 large singles, Brazil’s 12 million singles, and Nigeria’s 30,000 large singles.

It is reported that Guyana's "one computer" project was formally launched in May this year. The government plans to use two years to send 90,000 laptops to 90,000 poor families, aiming to help impoverished families achieve scientific enrichment and access to knowledge. For this reason, the government of Guyana has been publicly bidding in the world and has made comprehensive assessments in terms of product performance, after-sales service, training, and logistics. The requirements are very demanding.

In the tendering process in the past four months, 11 global brands including Hewlett-Packard, Dell, Samsung, Sony, Acer, Asus, etc. participated in the competition, and the competition was extremely fierce. In the end, Haier from China won the first batch of orders for a “one computer” project in Guyana with a package of excellent products, localized after-sales services, and logistics.

It is reported that the first batch of Haier notebook computers will arrive directly in Guyana at the end of October. According to the person in charge in Guyana, the Haier Group was able to win the bid exclusively because Haier not only provided the products with the highest scores in performance and specifications, but also established an after-sales service center in Guyana to provide local residents with local star service; Haier will also set up a training center to help the government improve user computer knowledge.
