Reduce the price! Indian government procurement of LED bulbs prices fell to 4 yuan

According to the Times of India, the Indian government plans to cut the price of LED bulbs from the average retail price of 300 rupees (contract 28.8 yuan) to 44 rupees (contract of 4.2 yuan) in accordance with the High Efficiency Lighting Demand Management Plan (DELP). Indian Energy Minister Piyush Goyal recently said at the Associated Trade Union in India: "The government plans to push the price to 44 rupees through a large number of bidding LED bulbs."

Under the National Efficient Lighting Demand Management Plan, the Indian government obtained LED bulbs through competitive bidding and sold them to the public at very competitive prices. At present, the market price of a single LED bulb is about 275 to 300 rupees (contract 22.4-28.8 yuan). The minister said that in the latest bid, some manufacturers had a price of 74 rupees (contract of 7.1 yuan) lower than the target price of 99 rupees.

In the past six to eight months, LED bulb prices have fallen by 75% through several programs promoted by the Department of Energy's Energy Efficiency Services (EESL). Through government programs, consumers can also choose to purchase LED bulbs in monthly installments. The country's plan is expected to stimulate demand for LED bulbs in the market and push the retail price down to 150 rupees (contract of RMB 14.4).

According to official statistics, the use of LED bulbs for home and public lighting will reduce energy consumption by 50% to 90%. If 7.7 billion Indian home incandescent bulbs are replaced with LED bulbs, the country can save about 25 billion kilowatt-hours of energy a year.

The government has distributed 13.5 million LED bulbs and plans to distribute 700 million bulbs through mass purchases within three years. Lighting accounts for about 20% of India's overall energy consumption, and high-energy incandescent bulbs are still widely circulated in the market.

India's LED lighting policy:

On January 5, 2015, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the LED Home and Street Lights Reloading Program "Guangming Road Sports".

The Efficient Lighting Demand Management Program aims to replace incandescent and fluorescent bulbs used in homes and switch to LED bulbs. The plan is to cut off energy consumption by up to 105 billion kilowatts and reduce the electricity bill to 400 billion rupees (contract of 38.4 billion yuan).

India's National Street Light Program (SLNP) currently locks in 35 million street lights, saving 9 billion kilowatts of electricity and saving 1,500 megawatts of electricity for installed street lights.
