The ZL70550 transceiver operates from an unlicensed industrial, scientific, and medical (ISM) band of 779 to 965 MH, consuming only 2.8 mA while delivering output power at -10 dBm, consuming nearly 2.5 mA of current during reception. This product offers the industry's lowest 10nA sleep current, making it ideal for low duty cycle applications. The ZL70550 is a flexible solution that can be tailored to a wide range of application requirements, operating from 1.7 V to 3.6 V, providing variable output power and data rates up to 200 kbps. For extended wireless range applications, it can adjust transmitter output power, receiver input sensitivity, and data rate to achieve a link budget of up to -107 dBm while minimizing device power consumption.
The ZL70550 transceiver is a highly integrated product in a very small 3x2 mm chip scale package. In addition to the antenna and in some cases matching the network, only one crystal, one resistor and two coupling capacitors are required.
The device includes advanced media access controller (MAC), Received Signal Strength Indication (RSSI), clear channel estimation, sniffing, preamble and synchronization, data packing, whitening and forward error correction that provide most of the link support functions ( FEC). Microsemi offers Z-Star protocol options for fast product development and star topology configuration to allow full network deployment.
